The “M” word.
Do I believe in miracles? I smile and nod my head.
Not the spells of religion, so I ponder what I’ve said.
Mystic forces twist and twine the fabric of all life,
But fairy tales and parables, do no justice comparing right.
Do you believe in miracles? Think before you speak.
Not the strings attached with rules to follow, declaring you are meek.
Closing eyes and clasping hands will prevent what we can see.
But open mind and open eyes, show us wonders that can truly be.
***This poem in not discrediting spirituality or the belief that miracles happen. It is simply looking at the conflict between the true nature of “loving all” and religious dogma. There are some people who “believe” so blindly that they miss the real beauty in life. This poem is an expression of that idea.
